Well, the lack of Renly and Loras was massively disappointing (I was saving up my squee for them!) but at least Cat will take us to the camp of fun and parties in the next eppie.

How cool were the glimpses of the Dragonstone though? I thought that Stannis' scenes were a bit rushed but the great table-map of Westeros - check, the stone dragons - check. BUT NO PATCHFACE, THE KING OF CREEPS.

While the boys were in short supply this episode, I suppose the show writers needed to spend the time establishing Stannis' part in the story.

Mainly, I got a kick at seeing Tyrion back on screen in all his brilliant, biting glory.

All Tyrion scenes were my top favorite moments, Peter Dinklage just can't stop with his brilliance.

And Dany trying to feed her bb Drogon. And Shae enjoying the "vibe" of the city (I know it's a failboat character to love but the actress just does it for me!). I'm glad that we can finally see how little control over the circumstances Cersei has - by the way, why does everyone assume that Joff ordered to kill Robert's bastards? It was Cersei in the books.

I loved the baby dragon scene.

I felt Cersei received a very "mixed-message" sort of treatment in the epi. She flexed her power over Baelish but otherwise she seemed pretty ineffectual and not the strong if wildly reckless manipulator she is in the books

I think that the writers are trying to make Cersei into a more sympathetic character than she turned out to be in the books. I guess I don't mind it because the sex=punishment message in her walk of shame in ADwD didn't go down too well with me. I would be okay with her being rewritten into a strong female antagonist who is somewhat more of a victim of the powerful men in her life than her book counterpart. Joffrey's insanity was dialed to 11 and I was lovingggg it.

The Lannisters are stealing the show so far.

Wow, really? I knew about 204 but Cat has just been sent to Renly's camp in 201. Shouldn't she, uhm, get there in 202 unless she takes the long way round?

I know we (and Renly and Loras, lol) are going to get some but surely they can't squeeze all action that in two episodes after having paraded Renly front and center in all trailers. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT = BAD.

Unless they end 204 with Renly's death. Then 205 would have Loras on his killing spree. One episode for Blackwater, probably? Hopefully Loras wearing the armor and not Garlan. Two as a glorified bodyguard in court?

Feeling underwhelmed, tbh. I stan for other characters as well, so it's not a loss of a season but I've been looking forward to Renly's story the most.

And I know, lol. We've just debated this morning with my co-mod on the spoiler policy and decided to keep it spoiler-free just in case some unicorn fan passes by and we ruin someone's life ~forever by saying SPOILER SPOILERS in 204 and SPOILER WILL SPOILER FOR HIM FOREVER OMG.

I think on the positive side is that at least on the show we still get a lot more than in the book. the events in the book translated in the show would give us probably only one ep.

Thanks for the comm anyway, even if I'm pretty new here. It's nice to have a place where to discuss them and I'm glad I found it before the eps come.
